“Lighting up the world with Latina Stories”

As the founder of Somos Escritoras, I intentionally named our program Somos Escritoras as a declaration that as Latinas - WE ARE WRITERS! WE ARE STORYTELLERS! WE ARE ARTISTS! We have important stories, ideas, and perspectives to share with the world. 

Our creative journey doesn't end with our Somos Escritoras summer workshops. It's just the beginning. To further celebrate the collective stories of our escritoras and to amplify our voices, I am thrilled to announce the launch of the Latina Luminaries Blog Series. 

During Hispanic Heritage Month, we will carry forward the spirit of Somos Escritoras by sharing the art and writing of our escritoras - as they define themselves, document their histories, and rewrite their worlds - in their own words. We will share with the world who we are as Latinas - our hopes and dreams, joy, resilience, identities, and our unique experiences. 

The flame ignites on September 15th @ 11 am CT.
