Day 24: Galletas de Tejana
When you are multiracial, it can definitely be a journey to find your identity. So you better bring some galletas!
For me I felt so unsure as a kid, but I always felt most at home with mis abuelos. So when I heard the term Tejana, that spoke to me as the daughter of a Texan, and a Mexican. It fit me so snugly, and felt like home. Like a warm tortilla embrace with that wonderful pat of butter on top! Everyone's journey to how they identify is different, but when you find that community you can share your galletas with, it's magic!

About the Author
Eliza Kinkz, Author, Illustrator & Somos Escritoras Guest Author
Eliza Kinkz is a Tejana artist who never stopped viewing the world through the bright colors of her crayons, AND she even ate a few, too! She's illustrated many hilarious picture books, including Papá's Magical Water-Jug Clock by Jesús Trejo which won the Pura Belpré Illustration Honor, and she was the 2022 James Marshall Fellow. All her ridiculous scribbles burst straight from her heart, which is overflowing with joy...and probably a few crayon pieces. ¡MISTACO! is her author-illustrator debut, and you can spill all the frijoles to her at ElizaKinkz.com.
