Dear Escritoras,
As the director and lead writing mentor of Somos Escritoras, my goal in our work has always been to put the needs, concerns, and desires of our girls at the center of all we do. Since summer 2020, Somos Escritoras has offered remote summer workshops for our escritoras. In moving Somos Escritoras to a remote platform, we have expanded our reach, writing with more escritoras from across the country, including AZ, CA, NM, TX, IA, IL, and Washington D.C.
We continue to stay committed to supporting our Comunidad while designing and facilitating workshops that are rooted in the lives of our escritoras. Our 2022 Somos Escritroas workshops, “Becoming Braver Together,” will now be facilitated via zoom for all escritoras from across the country to join en Comunidad to write their stories and amplify their voices.
In addition, we invite our escritoras near Austin to participate in a special one-day field trip to UT Austin to engage in a writing marathon, visit with graduate students, meet the Dean of the College of Education, and so much more!
